Latest computer technology, how recent are these components?
Hi everybody, I’m looking to upgrade my computer (it’s a dinosaur… 40gb IDE HDD, USB 1.0 and 384mb RAM… caused by combining 128 & 256) and it’s just toooooo slow, especially whenever I try to run graphics based programs like artisteer wordpress theme creator and web graphics creator. I get ‘virtual memory too low’ messages on a daily basis because the computer is constantly stealing free memory to use as RAM.
Anyway. I use the computer for business purposes and online marketing (an obviously creating wordpress themes). So I don’t need something super flashy as an upgrade. I found the system below and I’m just wondering how recent the components are and whether they would suit my requirements.
The specs are:
• CPU: Intel Core i5 750 Quad Core (2.66GHz) – LGA1156 8MB Cache
• RAM: 4GB DDR3 1333 memory
• Hard Disk: 500GB SATA II HDD
• Motherboard: MSI P55-CD53
• Chipset: Intel P55 Express Chipset
• Optical Drive: 22X DVD+/- Dual Layer DVD Writer
• Graphics: ATI HD4350 512M GDDR2 Silent HDMI Dedicated Graphic Card
• Sound: High Definition Audio 8 Channel
• Network: Gigabit LAN
• Tower Case: Huntkey H401 Business Explore with Silent 500W PSU
• Operation System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
Obviously windows 7 is brand new, DDR3 RAM would be more recent than DDR2 and quad core would be better than dual core but all the other numbers… I have no idea what they really mean. The system sounds impressive but that could just be the wording.
So, I need a little input here… would this system be a good system for someone to use for business purposes including graphics based programs already mentioned, word processing, spreadsheets, regular internet (we have cable internet via a network), social networking and a little casual gaming like yahoo games? I want something that will suit my needs for about 3 years.
